Leona M. Becker, age 98, formerly of Monroe, died on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Azura Memory Care in Stoughton. She was born on May 23, 1914, in Sylvester Township, Green County, Wisconsin the daughter of Otto and Mary (Braun) Albright. Leona attended the Prien School, was a 1932 graduate of Monroe High School and graduated from Beauty School in 1934. By age 20 she started the Monroe Beauty Supply, which she owned until her retirement in 2009.
Leona and Paul Becker were married in 1942. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, where she was a Youth Sunday School Teacher for many years & she traveled the Orient several times, Europe and the United States.
She is survived by her nephews, Bernard (Joanne) Albright of Monroe, WI, Richard (Susan) Albright of Stoughton, WI & Keith (Judy) Albright of Arpin, WI; 16 grand nieces & nephews: 32 great-grand nieces & nephews; and special friends, Joe Wahl & Lucianne Long.
She is predeceased by her parents, Otto and Mary; husband, Paul Becker; brothers, Orvail & Arnold Albright; sister, Lillian Bailey; nieces, Marlene Albright & Karen (Albright) Montgomery; and twin nieces, Nanette & Paulette Albright.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, October 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church 853 31st Avenue in Monroe with Pastor Matthew Spoonhour officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery north of Juda, WI.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at noon on Saturday at the church.
A Memorial Fund is being established in Leona's memory.
