Leona A. Kubly, age 98 of Monroe, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Leona was born on October 21, 1917 in Monroe, the daughter of John and Anna (Kubly) Keegan. She attended Dutch Hollow Rural School in Sylvester Township. She married Raymond W. Kubly on February 20, 1941 in the St. Victor Catholic Church Parsonage. Leona and Ray farmed in Monroe Township for 35 years before moving into Monroe. She was a lifelong member of St. Victor Catholic Church, enjoyed crocheting, gardening on the farm, and made quilts for each of her grandchildren. Leona was an excellent baker and was known for her chocolate chip cookies and angel food cake. She loved spending time with her family and especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Roger W. (Eileen) Kubly of Monroe and their children, Richard (Tana) of East Troy, WI, Tim (Jennifer) of Ixonia, WI, and Mitchell of Brown Deer; Duane R. (Kathy) Kubly of Monroe and their children, Jennifer (Gregory) Hansen of Fitchburg, Michelle (Gregg) Bott of Stevens Point, Eric (Lisa) and Andrew (Alicia), all of Monroe; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Ada Swanton of Monroe and her children, Paula, Craig, and Jill and families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray, on March 12, 1997; two daughters, Darlene in 1949, and Diane in 1966; a brother, Nathan (Lucy) Keegan; two sisters, Helen (Russell) Severson, and Eileen (Harold) Deininger; two nephews, David Keegan and Ronald Severson; and two nieces, Gladys Neuenschwander and Janet Hauri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe.
