Leo L. Johnson, age 91, formerly of Browntown, died on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Country Care, rural Monroe. He was born on September 19, 1917 in Jordan Township, son of Carl and Awilda (Melland) Johnson and attended Grove School. He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church. One of his favorite activities was playing Euchre.
Leo and Lois Updike were married on February 26, 1947 in Monticello and they farmed and raised their family of 10 children. He later was a self-employed whitewasher and handyman.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; brothers, Ralph and Harold Johnson; and granddaughter, Carrie Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday May 12, 2009 at Jordan Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in the Jordan Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe. A memorial fund has been established in Leo's name.
