Kirk Krier, age 56, of rural Monroe died on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in a farm accident, at his home. He was born on July 19, 1952, the son of Gustav and Frieda (Sutter) Krier. He was a 1970 graduate of Monroe High School. Kirk and Nancy Schwetz were married on November 3, 1979. He was the third generation to farm on the family farm in Washington Township. He later worked for Segner Excavating until 2007. Kirk and Nancy also had K & N Kitchen, serving food at many auctions and events for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter and expert marksman, winning many trophies and a state competition in trap shooting. Kirk enjoyed fishing when ever the opportunity came, he was a true outdoorsman. Most recently he had gotten into wood working, where he remodeled his house using barn boards from the farm, all of these things he passed on to his daughters, showing them all he knew. In addition, Kirk enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife and friends.
Surviving are the loves of his life, his wife, Nancy and daughters, Amanda and Jessica, all of rural Monroe. Others surviving are his mother, Frieda Krier of Monroe; father-in-law, Joseph (Bernice) Schwetz of Jim Falls and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Marjorie Schwetz.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. John Tabaka of Grace Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Kirk's memory.
