Kenneth R. Bauer, age 80 of Monroe, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 14, 1933 in Loyal, Wisconsin, the son of Roland and Beatrice (Hubing) Bauer. Ken served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Kenneth married Yvonne Eddy on May 25, 1955 in Loyal, Wisconsin. He worked for Crandalls Inc. for 25 years, and later worked for the Swiss Colony. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victors Catholic Church, American Legion Zilmer Riley Post #84, V.F. W. Cecil Jones Post # 2312, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring old tractors, watching the birds and squirrels, and he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son, Tim (Jeri) Bauer; a daughter, Dawn (Paul) Grinnell, all of Monroe; 3 sisters: Virginia Seefluth of Wisconsin Rapids, Arlene (Tony) Mondloch of New Richmond, and Mae Trampush of Loyal; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: Scott Allen and Jeffery Richard; 2 brothers: Wallace and Sylvester.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home, with Fr. Michael Klarer celebrating. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
