MONROE/MINERAL POINT - Kenneth G. Canon Jr., age 57 of Monroe and formerly of Mineral Point, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. He was born in Dodgeville on January 22, 1951, the son of Kenneth and Violet (Jansen) Canon. He worked at Advance Transfer, Stoughton Trailer, and most recently at Potter Family Farms in Monroe until his illness. He married Shirley M. Fitzpatrick on February 3, 1973 in Richland Center. Junior enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his family and friends. He had such a kind heart, that he would do anything to help family and friends, whom he loved dearly.

Junior is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Bobbie Jo, Kenneth F., and Cody J., all of Monroe; 5 siblings, Sharon (Walt) Lindeman of Mineral Point, Bob (Cheryl) Canon, of Dubuque, Iowa, Mike (Barb) Canon, Jerry Canon, and Marie (Jim) Deutsch, all of Mineral Point; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a infant brother, John Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Point Baptist Church in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.
