Kenneth F. Nott, age 96 of Rock City, IL, died on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. For the past year, he had been a resident of Aster Assisted Living in Monroe. He was born on June 24, 1920 in Rock Grove TWP, IL; the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Zimmerman) Nott.
On June 27, 1942, he and Verna L. Sprecher were united in marriage at Rock Grove Mt. Carmel EUB Church. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage, residing and farming on his family farm his entire life. She preceded him in death in August of 1995.
He was Rock Grove Township Road Commissioner from 1955 until 1989. He enjoyed listening to blue grass music, playing his banjo and mandolin with others in jam sessions, and was a member of the Rock Run Ramblers. He was a member of the Dakota/Rock Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children, Joann (Harvey) Suess of Rock City and Gene (Linda) Nott of Freeport; five grandchildren, Kathy (Dana) DeHaven, Terri (Brad) Hughes, Brian (Jori) Nott, Eric (Nancy) Nott, and Susan Nott; seven great grandchildren, Taylor Hughes, Braden Hughes, Tanner Nott, Drew DeHaven, Beatrice Nott, Brody Hughes, and Greta Nott.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Verna; and siblings, Grace (Nott) Pieper, Clifford Nott, Raymond Nott, Roy Nott, and Nettie (Nott) Hendren.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 2nd from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Dakota United Methodist Church in Dakota, IL. The funeral service will be Friday, March 3rd at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am also at the church. Interment will take place at Rock Grove Union Cemetery.
