PECATONICA - Kathryn Jane Poppen, 86, of Pecatonica died Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Born January 29, 1931 in Rockford the daughter of Chriss and Jennie (Stahl) Lameyer. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1949 and Northern Illinois Teachers College in 1951 where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Kathryn married Roland Dale Poppen on November 8, 1952 in Seward. Kathryn taught school in Pecatonica, Seward, Winnebago, Rockford, Texas and Munich, Germany. She was a member of the Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley, the Women's Guild and taught Sunday school. Also a member of the Winnebago Voices of Experience. Kathryn most enjoyed spending time with her two daughters and their families.

Kathryn is lovingly survived by her daughters, Susan (Craig) Hultgren of Pecatonica, Teresa (Randy) Gobeli of Winnebago; grandchildren; Jeff (Becca) Nelson, Travis Nelson, Kami (Clark) Harmon, Eric (Tracy) Gobeli, Jodi Gobeli; greatgrandchildren, Quentin, Callianne, Mack, Kylee, Alex, Aden, Abigail, Allison, Andrew, Drew; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Kathryn is predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Larry Dorty.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, in the Silver Creek Reformed Church, 326 S. Bunker Hill Rd., German Valley with Rev. Grant Mulder officiating. Interment in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery near Pecatonica. Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
