Kathryn A. Rood, age 88 of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012. She was born on August 5, 1924 in Rockford, IL; the daughter of Benjamin and Catherine (Leary) Kottmann. Kathryn graduated from Muldoon Catholic High School in Rockford, IL. Kathryn and Todd C. Rood were married on October 2, 1954 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockford, IL. Kathryn was a Legal Secretary. She was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church and formerly St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pecatonica. She enjoyed creating and making ceramics, but most of all enjoyed spending time with family.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Ramona) Rood of Forreston, IL; daughter, Denise (Herbert) Waldron of Romeoville, IL; grandchildren: Andrew (Christy) Rood of Janesville; Jeffrey and Phillip Rood of Milwaukee; great-granddaughter Alexandria Rood, sister-in-law Agnes Kottmann and niece; Sylvia Fried both of MA; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Todd C. Rood; grandson, Patrick C. Rood, and brother, Benjamin Kottmann.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Michael E. Klarer. Private burial will be at a later date.
A visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass, at the church.
