Karl E. Bregenzer, LCDR USN Retired, 79 of Cocoa, FL, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Karl was born in Monroe, WI, Sept. 30, 1929. He came to Brevard County in 1974 after a 23 year Naval career. He worked in many auto dealerships as a well-known and successful salesman. He was a member of The MOOA; Cape Canaveral Chapter #263, life member Merritt Island Elks #2650, life member VFW Post #2312; American Legion Post #84; USS Randolph Reunion Assn; and National Retired Sonarmen's Assn.

Karl is survived by his second wife, Nedra, a lifelong friend, whom he married in 2005; daughters, Virginia Clinger of Mims, FL and Karlene Wesner of Lubbock, TX; son, Peter (Lisa) of Port St. John, FL; four granddaughters, one grandson, a stepson, two step-granddaughters, three step-grandsons and two great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Rita Elliott; and half-brother, David G. Deininger, Monroe.

He was predeceased by his first wife, E. Virginia (Ginnie); a son, Michael; mother, Anna Karlen Deininger; father, Edward Bregenzer; step-father, W. E. (Doc) Deininger; step-mother, Anna Bregenzer; half-brother, Marco Bregenzer; and half-sister, Angela Wieser.

Memorial services are 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
