June E. Fernstaedt age 87 of Monroe, died at Pleasant View Nursing Home on Monday, April 14, 2014. She was born June 27, 1926, in Jo Davies County, IL, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Woodley) Jordan. She married Irvin K. Fernstaedt on January 29, 1944 at the Peace United Church of Christ Parsonage in Browntown. June and Irvin farmed in Cadiz Township from 1944 until moving to Browntown in 1971, and at that time they painted houses and barns and maintained lawns for different families throughout the area. She was a longtime member of Staver St. Peters United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing the produce from her gardens. June especially enjoyed time spent with family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Kay (Leo) Buechner of Rock Hill, SC, Daryl (Kari) Fernstaedt of Monroe and Joann (Mike) Stewart of Browntown; seven grandchildren, Shelli, Amy, Teresa, Wendy, Josh, Kim and Scott; 11 great-grandchildren, Anabelle, Alex, Aaron, Reed, Elsie, Noah, Charlie, Evan, Everett, Mack and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin, on Nov. 10, 2012; a grandson, Eric; brothers Wilbur and Robert Jordan; two infant brothers; and a sister Berneice Keller.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m., at Staver St. Peters United Methodist Church, Clarno Township. Pastor Inwha Shon will officiate with a luncheon to follow the service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Freeport, IL, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The family requests memorials be given to Staver Church, Wisconsin Badger Camp or Pleasant View Nursing Home in June's name.
