Joyce E. Raab, age 77, of Monroe, formerly of Warren, IL died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Monroe.
Joyce was born December 11, 1930 in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel and Emma C. (Grape) Doubler. She graduated from Warren High School in 1948. Joyce married Myrnice Raab on April 14, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked at Crum and Forrester in Freeport and retired in December of 1985 from Micro Switch in Warren. She resided in Warren until 1998. She was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Joyce was a special lady who was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by four loving daughters, Cindy Pohl, Susan (Michal) Schwitz, Peggy Raab, and Penny Raab, all of Monroe; four grandchildren, Emma and Dylan Schwitz, Brandi Carpenter, and Brooke Pohl; a great-grandson, Jordan Carpenter; a sister-in-law, Shirley Dobler of Monroe; a niece, Judy Klaas; two nephews, Jerry (Betty) Paige and Gene (Crystal) Paige; and a special friend and companion, Marshall Webster and his family of Scales Mounds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 4, 1965; two sisters; one brother, and a niece.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in her name.
