BRODHEAD - Josephine "Josie" Gilbert, age 80, of Brodhead, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on December 3, 1929 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Peter and Bridget (Giacalone) DeVita. She married Clifford H. Gilbert in Beloit, WI on October 6, 1962. He passed away on November 13, 1995.
Josie had worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Pioneers of America and the Brodhead VFW Auxiliary. Josie also belonged to several bowling leagues in Brodhead.
She is survived by four nephews, Peter Keyes, Cherry Hill, NJ, Richard (Jeannie) Keyes, St. Louis, MO, Sanford Keyes and Paul (Audrey) Keyes, both of Beloit; a niece, Helen (Larry) Stephens, Ft. Smith, AR; three great-nephews, and one great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the D.L.NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Rev. Mary Gafner officiating.
