John W. Wyssbrod Jr. "Sonny" age 78, of South Wayne, born November 27, 1937 to Rose (Stiffler) Wyssbrod and John W. Wyssbrod Sr., died on March 5, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Glenda A. Wyssbrod (nee Lewis) as well as children, Jim (Laurie) Hegi, Julie A. (Greg) Knoke, Jennie Wyssbrod, and Jill (Steve) Reynolds. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jackie, Nicole, Erica, Kevin, Kolten, Scott, Trevor, Seth, Stevie and Jake. He is further survived by five great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Ernest (Karen) Wyssbrod and Randall Wyssbrod; 2 sisters, Karon (Karl) Scheider and Diane (Mick) Maves. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger, and a niece, Suzanne Stocker Lancaster.
Sonny was a third generation cheese maker. His uncles and brothers were also cheese makers. Sonny also farmed and worked as a welder. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #754, where he enjoyed playing on the Horseshoe leagues, and even won a state tournament. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing and watching slow pitch softball teams he sponsored, visiting the dog track in Dubuque and watching Badger sports and Packer football.
The family is having a visitation at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Kevin Cernek presiding. Burial will be in Saucerman Cemetery. Sonny's family suggests memorials to Monroe Clinic Hospice or Martintown Community Church.
