MONROE - John H. Pohl, age 76, passed away at his home on Tuesday April 12, 2011. He was born to Herman and Ruby (Wilcox) Pohl on August 10, 1934 in Jo Daviess County, IL. He married Carol Hesselbacher in 1957 and she passed away on 1968. He was briefly married to Sandy Townsend. John married Patricia Thruman on January 1, 1976 in Freeport, IL. He served in the United States Army from January 6, 1955 to December 27, 1956. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church in Monroe, WI. He farmed for many years in the Warren area; he then owned and operated a Fertilizer Business in Scales Mound and later the Coast to Coast Hardware Store, then Foster Implement in Warren. John then worked for Wolohan's in Sterling. For the past 20 years he worked in property management. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Monroe, WI. John enjoyed fishing, playing cards and being with family.

John is survived by his wife Patricia of Monroe; 3 Children- Gerald (Edith) Pohl of Phoenix, AZ, Louann (Richard) Kenney of Warren and Darcey Vargas of Independence, MO; 3 Step-Children- David Kempel of Monroe, Andrea Kempel of Sterling, IL and Daniel Kempel of Omaha, NE; 8 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Brother Clyde (Janice) Pohl of Stockton; 2 Sisters- Jean Breed of Tucson, AZ and Melva Law of Stockton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carol and 2 brothers; Joseph and Melvin.

Funeral Services will be held Friday April 15, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 15, 2011 from 10:00 until time of service.

Burial will be at the Scales Mound Township Cemetery, Scales Mound, IL.

Officiating will be Pastor Marilyn Ross.

A memorial has been established in his name.
