Joanne M. Heins, age 81 of Monroe, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Joanne was born on January 6, 1936 in Cuba City, WI, the daughter of John L. and Mina (Lindsay) Mauthe. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1954 and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Joanne and Delbert E. Heins were married on August 24, 1957 in Cuba City. She worked at a Registered Nurse for St. Clare Hospital in Monroe and Doctors Hein and Stuessy in Brodhead for 42 years before retiring in 2001. Following her retirement she was employed with the Monroe Clinic Hospice for four years. She has resided at Pleasant View Nursing Home since 2012. Joanne was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Monroe and the Naomi Circle. She loved working in her flower beds, and enjoyed playing cards, golfing, sewing, and cross stitch.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert Heins of Monroe; two daughters, Cindy J. Heins of Monroe, and Jolene (Pete) Lofy of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Scott, Lauren, and Max Lofy; a sister, Ruth (Charles) Halverson of Benton; three brothers, Norman of Platteville, Leonard of Elk Grove, and John Mauthe of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Jane Mauthe of Beloit; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Joanne's name for Friends of Pleasant View.
