Joan Ellefson, age 66, of Monroe, died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. She was born on June 24, 1943, the daughter of Ancil and Genevieve (Phillips) Helmeid. She was a graduate of Monroe High School. Joan and Robert Ellefson were married, and spent 48 wonderful years together. She worked for Oaktron Industries and then worked for Advance Transformer for several years. Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose Chapter #599, she loved to quilt and was a member of the Courthouse Quilters. Joan was an avid Alan Jackson fan and per her wishes, she will be buried in her favorite Alan Jackson T-Shirt.
Surviving is her husband, Robert of Monroe; children, Keith (Ronda) Ellefson of Beloit, Kurt (Teri) Ellefson of Monroe, Ranee (Steve) Jones of Monroe; grandchildren, Matt, Keri, Kade, Kodi, Kyle, Jacob and Samantha; brothers, Don (Mary) Helmeid, Harold Helmeid and Gary (Sally) Helmeid. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Scott in infancy and brother, Wesley Helmeid.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. John Tabaka, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
