ELEROY, Ill. - Jimmie Mogan Hartney, 68 of Eleroy, IL was called on his final journey home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2016. He was born on March 7, 1948 to Wayne and Lois (Wheldon) Hartney in Savanna, IL. Jimmie married Cheryl Heidenreich on June 1, 1968 in Savanna, IL at the Community Church. He was a member of the Lena United Methodist Church. Jimmie worked at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Corey's Oil Co. delivering oil, Breeds Electric in Elizabeth, JC Penny, and he retired as a Lieutenant from the Stephenson County Sheriff's Department in 1998. After his retirement, he held many other side jobs to keep busy. Jimmie enjoyed fishing, boating, coffee, going to Don's Oasis with Erv, gardening, playing euchre, working with wood, family time in the garage; fixing their cars, building things, repurposing things, tinkering with his '57 Chevy, and salt.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Cheryl of Eleroy; daughters Andrea (Daniel) Hicks, Stephanie (Gene) Dagle both of Warren; grandchildren Jordyn Hicks, Alex Flynn, Benjamin Hicks, and Autumn Flynn; his best friend Erv Klaas; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Jimmie M. Hartney II in 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Lena United Methodist Church in Lena, IL.

A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Lena United Methodist Church.

Pastor Brian LeBaron will officiate the services.

Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.

A memorial has been established in his name.
