Janet R. Hauri, age 78 of Monroe, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Janet was born March 3, 1938 in Monroe, the daughter of Walter H. and Helen F. (Schultz) Kubly. She attended Iliff and Dutch Hollow Rural Schools and Monroe High School. Janet married Leo W. Hauri on July 28, 1957 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello. Janet worked as a bookkeeper for J & W Implement, Hilton Kirchner Tax Service, and Monroe Truck Equipment before retiring. She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, serving on the Rebekah Circle, church council treasurer for 8 years, and as an usher and communion server. She was a member of the Monroe Women of the Moose #599 for 40 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Janet loved to garden, was an avid quilter and embroiderer, and was known for her canned beef, pickled beets, and tomatoes.
She is survived by her two sons, Bill (Jan) Hauri of Springfield, Mo, and Paul Hauri of Madison; four grandchildren, Heather Hauri of Oakland, CA, Lindsay (Matt) Magnum of San Diego, CA, Jeremey (Ashley) Hauri of Kansas City, MO, and Jacob Hauri of Springfield, MO; three brothers, Ken Kubly of Monroe, Harvey (Patty) Kubly of Monticello, and Donald Kubly of Monroe. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo, on June 13, 1982; and a sister-in-law, Christine Kubly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 17, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe.
