Jack H. Myers, 90, of Freeport, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Jack was born April 28, 1927 in Freeport, the son of Harry L. and Margaret (Roche) Myers.
Jack was educated in the Freeport School District, and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Jack was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He joined his father in Myers Ford Sales INC in 1951 until sold in March of 1988; they were one of the first Ford-Lincoln-Mercury leasing agencies in the country. From 1992-1998 he was involved with his son, Kelly in Country Nights with Kelly. He loved education and athletics, he coached youth basketball. Jack was involved in numerous community activities including Aquin Catholic Schools, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, YMCA, Freeport Public Library, Freeport Art Museum, raised money for the St. Joseph/St. Vincent expansion, and led efforts to build the Martin Luther King Campus.
Surviving are his sons, Kelly Myers, Casey (Brenda) Myers both of Freeport and Rory Myers of Phoenix; daughter, Tami (Bobby) Lawson of Freeport; eight grandchildren, Phillipe Gardner, Adrian Myers, Anthony Myers, Dominic Myers, Trak Myers, Brodie Myers, Brianna Myers, and Abby (Saleh) Myers-Dehbash; and two great-grandchildren, Alette Myers and Audrey Myers-Fern.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Peggy Myers.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday March 9, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Kenneth Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday March 8, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. Thomas. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Freeport Catholic Schools and FACC in Jack's memory.
