JANESVILLE - Howard J. Bjoin, age 81, of Janesville, died on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Evansville Manor. He was born in Stoughton on Oct. 2, 1926, the son of Fred and Emma (Stai) Bjoin and stepfather, Randy Pieper. He served in the US Navy during WWII, in the Pacific Theatre as an aviation ordinance technician. Howard married Monyieene J. Livezey on March 20, 1948, in Manchester, IA. He had been employed by the Milwaukee Railroad, Rein Schultz & Dahl, PW Ryan for 30 years as Crushing Superintendent, and started Bjoin Limestone, Inc. in 1976. He retired on February 1, 1992. Howard was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church, a member of the Elks Club, VFW Post 1621 and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Monyieene Bjoin of Janesville; 2 children, Michael H. (Sheila) Bjoin and Paul (Kathy) Bjoin, both of Janesville; 5 grandchildren: Shaun Bjoin of Afton, Stacy (Pete) Haubenschild of Atlanta, GA, Stephanie Smith of Janesville, Kristopher (Melani Helgesen) Bjoin of Janesville and Jonathan (Kristi) Bjoin of Janesville; 2 great-grandchildren, Kyle Smith and Rafe Bjoin; and 3 siblings: Mary (Bob Higgins) Schultz of Evansville, Ardra (Don) Juve of Stoughton and Ron (Mary) Pieper of Stoughton. He was preceded in death by his dad, Fred Bjoin, mother, Emma Pieper, stepdad, Randy Pieper; grandson, Michael Bjoin; 2 sisters, Donna in infancy and Thyra Kluever; mother-in-law, Myrtle Livezey; and father-in-law, Earl Livezey.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH with Pastor Richard W. Lehmann officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, 1800 E.
