Henry J. Marty, age 92 of Monroe, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on June 18, 1922, in Green County, the son of Henry and Rosa (Gehrig) Marty. He graduated from Monticello High School. Henry married Carol J. Priewe on January 20, 1952, in Monroe. Henry was a 4th generation dairy farmer on the family farm in Monticello, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello. Henry enjoyed spending time with his family, had a great sense of humor, and loved to talk. He enjoyed morel mushroom hunting. Henry had a pilot's license when he was younger and loved to fly. He experienced the joy of a hot air balloon ride and most recently a helicopter ride in September 2014.

He is survived by his wife Carol, Monroe, 5 children: Barbara (Ronald) Smith, Monticello, Thomas (Nancy) Marty, New Glarus, James (Linda) Marty, Monticello, JoAnn (Fred) Cruse, New Glarus and Sharon (Ray) Horstmeier, Monroe; a brother, Willis G. (Beverly) Marty of Pasco, WA; a sister, Helen (Merrill) Woodward of Verona; 13 grandchildren: Michelle (Matt) Brukwicki, Tracy (Chad) Spotts, Brian Smith, Michael (Angela) Marty, Andrew Marty, Jeff (Elizabeth) Lamb, Jacob, Lucas and Logan Marty, Anna and Max Cruse, Tyler (Kerrie) Brugger and Ryan (Marcie) Brugger; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marion Deppeler.

A Private family service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.
