Helen G. Anderson, age 87 of Monroe, died Saturday, March 27, 2010. Helen was born July 19, 1922 in Jordan Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Jennie (Hinchliffe) Lewis.
She attended Banner rural school and graduated from Argyle High School. Helen and Floyd A. Anderson were married May 17, 1946. They farmed in the Woodford and Monroe areas until retiring and moving to Monroe in 1974.
She is survived by nine children, Jenny Curless of Janesville, Arthur Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, both of Monroe, Jane Kubly of Janesville, Jeffrey Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Susan (Ron) Buholzer of Monroe, Greg (Susan) Anderson of Rochester, MN, Junior Anderson of Clovis, N.M., and Jan (Greg) Krahenbuhl of South Wayne; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Harry (Lenore) Anderson of Platteville, WI, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Anderson of Browntown, Janet Zemeke of Sauk City, WI; and a brother-in-law, Gene Anderson of Cassville. She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Floyd on October 5, 1984; and a grandson, Matthew Buholzer.
Helen was the last of her family that included brothers Howard, Glenn, Roy and Marion, and Franklyn Lewis, who died in infancy; and two sisters, Ila Niffenegger and Delpha Thoreson.
Helen's family would like to thank the Angelus Retirement Community and staff for making Helen part of their family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Monsignor Thomas Campion officiating. Interment will follow in the Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Jordan Township. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 31, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Helen's name. Material possessions she had were few, but in strength, courage, determination, and with the love of her family she had wealth beyond compare.
