Helen C. Hofmeister, age 96 of Monroe, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Monroe Manor. Helen was born August 4, 1912 on the Zee home farm south of Juda, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Hintzman) Zee.
She attended Sylvan school and graduated from Monroe High School in 1930. Helen and Leo L. Hofmeister were married on December 5, 1944 at the E.U.B. Church in Monroe.
She worked 37 years at Luchsinger Monuments before retiring in 1967. Helen enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and playing cards, especially 500 and euchre.
She is survived by two nieces, Elaine (Ross) Lancaster of Monroe, and Emma Jean (Herbert) Nelson of New Glarus; two nephews, Kenneth (Sharon) Zee of Argyle, and Clifford (Jeanette) Zee of Darlington; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo on August 10, 1977; a brother, Forrest Zee; a nephew, Roger Zee; a niece, Lucille Lunda; and two great-nephews, Mark Zee and David Nelson.
Private family services will held. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Helen's name. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family.
