ORANGEVILLE - Grayce A. Showers, 94, passed away May 26, 2008 at Provina St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Freeport. Grayce was born on May 8, 1914 in Chicago, IL, to William and Lillian (Svoboda) Crohn. On November 28, 1935 she married Elwood F. Showers in Freeport, IL. They lived and farmed on their centennial farm for 60 years. Grayce was a member of the Eastern Star for 75 years and in 1950 she was Worthy Matron. She was a secretary of the Orangeville Woman's Club for over 40 years. In her younger years, she sang opera which she learned from Linblom High School and was an accomplished pianist. She also enjoyed ballet and toe dancing. She wrote many poems and enjoyed painting on ceramics. Grayce loved the country and especially gardening and wildlife.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorleen (Stephen) Switzer of Orangeville and one grandson, Joel Switzer of Fairbanks, AK.

She was preceded in death by two sons.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery.

Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Orangeville United Methodist Church.
