NEW GLARUS - Grace Ann Disch, age 87, of New Glarus, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born on January 2, 1922 in Postville, WI to her parents, Peter and Louise (Kneubuehl) Disch. Grace attended the Postville and Bem Schools, and graduated from the New Glarus High School in 1939. Following high school Grace attended the Madison Business College. Grace was employed by Spoo & Son and later the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources until her retirement in 1987 after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and was instrumental in publishing the Church Spire. Grace loved to travel, knit, crochet, and sew.

Grace is survived by her niece, Barbara (Jim) Hanson of New Glarus and a nephew, Al and Patti Aslakson, also of New Glarus; a special sister, Betty (Roy) Vetterli of Monroe and her family; Gary (Rita) Vetterli and Gene Vetterli and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mardella Aslakson; brother-in-law, Andy Aslakson; and her grandparents who raised her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.
