APPLE RIVER - Gordon M. Sigafus, 72, of Apple River, IL, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Gordon was born on May 31, 1935 in Apple River, the son of Harry C. and Mary B. (Metcalf) Sigafus. He married Norma Bennehoff on November 22, 1961 in Freeport, IL. He served our country in the United States Army. He was employed by Stephenson County Highway Department until 1966, and then he moved to Waukegan, IL as a plumber until retiring in 1994. They moved back to Apple River in 2005. He was a member of the Waukegan Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Norma of Apple River; six children, Dee Ann Sigafus of Waukegan, IL, Gordon A. (Kristine) Sigafus of Waukegan, Bradley Sigafus of Apple River, IL, William (Katherine) Sigafus of New Hope, AL, Wayne (Donna) Sigafus of Beach Park, IL and Nancy Curry of Waukegan, IL; eight grandchildren, Mike, Nica, William Jr., Tiahra Jenkins, Jenna and Joey Sigafus, Kassandra and Audie Kate; one great-granddaughter, Tatyanna Echevarria; three brothers, Richard Sigafus of South Wayne, Earl (Paula) Sigafus of Couch, MO, and John (Rita) Sigafus of Browntown, WI; five sisters, Viva Manthei of Forreston, IL, Helen Fox of Freeport, IL, Dolly Siemens of Shannon, IL, Harreitt (Ralph) Fryer of Freeport, IL, Carol (Gary) Meier of South Wayne, WI; one sister-in-law, Charlene Sigafus of Valley Mills, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mike and Charlie; two sisters, Violet and Eleanor; and a grandson, Joshua.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Warren, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren.
