Gloria J. Ruef age 74 of Madison formerly of Juda, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her home. Gloria was born March 2, 1941 in Monroe, the daughter of Arnold and Gertrude (Barth) Ruef Montgomery. She graduated from Juda High School in 1959 and worked several years for the Monroe Telephone Company. She moved to Milwaukee for a few years before returning to Madison where she was employed as a clerk for Wisconsin Power and Light now Alliant Energy until retiring. She was a lifelong member of the Juda Zion United Methodist Church, enjoyed knitting hats for various shelters through the Retired Senior Volunteers Program of Dane County, loved her garden, and was an avid reader and world traveler (visiting 6 continents). She was a counselor at the United Methodist Church Camp Lucerne for several years. Gloria also brought her love of the outdoors to her nieces and nephews through camping, hunting, and fishing.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce (E.J.) Hoesly of Juda; her brother, Robert (Roberta) Ruef of Iron River, WI; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Roger) Behnke, Todd (Trish) Hoesly, Jenny (Adam) Cain Ruef, Becky (Ben) Weaver, Kris (Lisa) Ruef, Jason (Jessica) Brooks, and David Brooks; and two step-sisters, Shirley Lindsey and JoAnn Hawthorn. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 12:00 p.m., at the Zion United Methodist Church, N2350 Church St., Juda, with Reverend Vicki Brantmeyer officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately following at the church. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Juda. Memorials are suggested in Gloria's name to the Juda Zion UMC. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
