ORFORDVILLE - Gladys L. Altman, 93, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Unity Hospice in Green Bay.

She was born August 20, 1916 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Rudy and Stella (Kundert) Elmer.

Gladys was married to George Altman on December 28, 1935 in Freeport, Illinois. She farmed with her husband near Orfordville.

She enjoyed baby-sitting for the Woodman's and Betker's and loved their children as her own. Later in life Gladys drove for the Amish. She also had a grand time traveling. She spent many winters in California, Arizona and Florida. She also loved traveling with the Woodman family. Gladys made lasting friendships wherever she went. She found pleasure in "going out to eat," visiting with people and cooking Sunday dinner for her brother's family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Oleck of Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Judy Altman of Kentucky; grandchildren: Daniel, Tim, Troy and Guy Altman, and Mark Oleck and Renee Oleck; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Roy; and brother, Fred Elmer.

Funeral services will be held at Orfordville Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, with Pastor Eric Jones officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. on Friday until the time of funeral at the Church.

Burial will be in Scotch Hill Cemetery, Town of Spring Valley, Rock County, Wisconsin.

If heaven has cars, Gladys will be driving one! Happy Trails Mom!
