Gerald E. "Doc" Daughenbaugh, 81 yrs. Old, of McConnell died peacefully in the presence of his family at his home on Sat. Jan. 8, 2011.
He was born on July 23, 1929 at Orangeville, the son of LeRoy and Ila (Barker) Daughenbaugh. He married Hedy Grogg on June 18, 1948.
He was employed at the Rock Grove Cheese plant, drove truck for Ulan Schultz trucking, hauled milk for Daughenbaugh Trucking and retired from Afolkey Cheese Plant.
"Doc" was a member of the McConnell United Methodist Church, McConnell Historical Society, The National Historic Cheesemaking Center in Monroe, and the McConnell Fire Dept.
He enjoyed his grandkids, especially his great grandkids, hunting, fishing, cheese making, attending grandkids sporting activities, time with friends, and camping.
Surviving are his wife, Hedy Daughenbaugh, his sons, David (special friend, Candy), Richard (Pat), and Michael (Barb) Daughenbaugh, all of McConnell, his grandkids, Joe (Tammy), Jeremy (Kim), Josh (Angie) Daughenbaugh, Jodi (Tim) Watter, Joan Humphrey, and Justin Daughenbaugh, nine great grandkids, nieces, nephews and his dog Rambo.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and one brother.
Memorial Services will be on Sat. Jan. 15, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the McConnell United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Carroll officiating. Burial of his cremains will be at St. James Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from Four to Seven P.M. on Friday at the McConnell United Methodist Church.
A Memorial has been established in Arrangements are being handled by the Schwarz Funeral Home.
