Frances M. Jensen age 86, of Monroe, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Frances was born February 28, 1929 in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Sidney A. and Edith (Beaver) Turner. She graduated from Pittsville, WI High School and Wood County Teachers College in 1948. Frances taught sixth grade in Pittsville before her marriage to Wayne W. Jensen on October 14, 1950. In 1960 the couple moved to Monroe where Frances taught at St. Victor School, worked as a cashier at the Sentry Store, and retired in 1992 after 20 years as a bookkeeper at the Monroe Medical Center.
Frances was a faithful member of St. Victor Catholic Church where she served with the Ladies Group, was active on the funeral luncheon committee, and worked as a parish and school secretary. She was a member of the Wisconsin Power and Light Auxiliary, The Embroiders Guild of America, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidering, play cards and Square dancing. Frances was also on the Board of Directors of the Behring Senior Center and volunteered at the front desk.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Jensen of Monroe; two daughters, Lynn (Tom May) Jensen and Mary Jensen, all of Goodyear, AZ; a son, Mark Jensen of Augusta, MI; and a sister, Karlene Ewer of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Albert Turner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Michael Klarer, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Friday, May 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Frances' name for the Behring Senior Center.
