Florence M. Lanz, age 104, died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. Florence has lived at St. Clare Friedensheim since 2002. She was born on April 13, 1905 in Clarno Township; the daughter of Fred and Hattie (Pandow) Beckman. She went to West Clarno School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1922. Florence married Herbert Lanz on September 4, 1929 in Monroe. She worked for Wisconsin Auto Insurance Company. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

She is survived by 3 children: Marilyn (Edward) McArdle of Monroe, Janet (Guy) Ferris of Waunakee and William (Sally) Lanz of New Glarus; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 1980, father, Fred Beckman, mother, Hattie Donner, step-father, Fred Donner, sister, Beatrice Regez and brother, Harold Beckman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home, with Reverend Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to either St. John's U.C.C. or St. Judes Childrens Hospital or a charity of your choice.
