FREEPORT - Eulalah A. Powell, 91 of Freeport, formerly of Monroe, WI, passed away on March 12, 2009 at the Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on January 6, 1918 in Winslow, IL, the daughter of George and Pearl (Kern) Welt. Eulalah graduated from Winslow High School in 1935. She married LuVerne Gilbert Powell on August 29, 1943 in Lena, IL. He preceded her in death on May 10,1984. Eulalah worked for Micro Switch in Freeport for 15 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown, WI, The Rebecca Lodge in Warren, IL and the Horse and Saddle Club. Eulalah enjoyed traveling and achieved her goal of visiting every state in the USA and yodeling in each state as she traveled. She was known to her family and friends as the Yodeling Lady.

Survivors include one daughter, Lana Rae (Robert) Dagel of Freeport, IL; one son, Randel (Sally) Powell of Freeport IL; two sisters-in-law, Berniece Welt and Edna Veil, both of Freeport, IL; one granddaughter, Vanessa Powell of Dekalb, IL; one grandson-In-law, Brian Collison of Freeport, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Paul Welt, and Elston Welt; three sisters, Kathryn and Nadene Welt, and Margaret Rockow; one brother-in-law, Ray Rockow; one niece, Marilyn Lueck; one nephew-in-law, Ralph Lueck; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Collison.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Peace United Church of Christ, Browntown, WI. Rev. Ray Sowersby will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.

Cremation Rites will be accorded and burial will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.
