Erma M. Klassy, age 97, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on July 29, 1917 on a farm north of Monroe, the daughter of Henry and Kathryn (Rhiner) Klassy.

In 1933 the family moved to Clarno Township and in 1947 to the city of Monroe.

After graduating from Monroe High School in 1935 she began working in the Monroe School District office. She then was employed for eleven years at the office of the Kraft Foods Plant in Monroe, after Kraft Foods she returned to work for the Monroe School District as bookkeeper and payroll clerk in 1952, retiring in 1979. She worked a total of 30 years in the Monroe School District office.

Erma was confirmed and a lifetime member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She served on the Church Council and as Church Treasurer from 1979 to 1985, she also was a member of the Rebeka Circle, St. John's Women's Guild and taught Sunday School.

Erma was a charter member of the Alpha Zeta chapter of the Epsilon Sorority. She was also treasurer of the Monroe Clinic Auxiliary for 9 years.

Erma enjoyed her volunteer and Church jobs as well as doing her part in the clubs she belonged to, she liked to travel in her earlier years.

She is survived by her nephews, Ron (Michelle) Stauffer of Monroe, James Cadman of South Beloit, IL, Larry Cadman of Blanchardville and a niece, Rita (David) Wise of Sequim, WA.

She is predeceased by her parents; sisters, Ruth Cadman and Helen Stauffer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
