Edwin H. Frederick, 87, of Monroe, passed away late in the evening Friday, December 1, 2017 surrounded by his family, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on August 29, 1930 the son of Martin and Lena (Ladwig) Frederick in rural Monroe on the original homestead farm. He was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School. He was united in marriage to Joyce J. Reigle on November 18, 1950 in Monroe and together they had two children; Joyce preceded him in death on December 5, 1990. He later joined in marriage to Erika H. Adams on August 1, 1993 at the New Apostolic Church in North Aurora, IL; she preceded him in death on February 8, 2005.

Edwin persevered through his teenage years having overcome polio at age 15. He enjoyed having a pilot's license, flying a plane that he shared with best friend, Leroy. He went on to farm in rural Monroe; and spent the winters repairing electric motors for Burkhart Electric until 1968. Later he worked for United Telephone Company as a switch repairman as well as being a minister at the New Apostolic Church in Monroe, having retired in 1995. Edwin was known for his ability to fix anything; his retirement pastime was spent repairing clocks, especially cuckoo and mantle clocks.

Edwin is survived by his children, Nancy (Ray) Schoeller of Brodhead and Edward (Kris) Frederick of Milwaukee; 5 grandchildren, Anne (Tony) Madson, Michael (Stephanie) Schoeller, Alena Schoeller, and Kailey and Jonathan Frederick; 1 great-grandchild, Daisy Madson; step-children, David and Bryan Adams, Shirley Cantrell, Claudia Dollmeyer, and Angelia Fredricksen; and his best friend from high school to the last day of his life, Leroy Spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joyce; his second wife, Erika; and sisters, Florence M. Thacher and Eleanor B. Frederick.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00pm. Private graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the New Apostolic Church, 516 W. Grand Ave., Beloit, WI at 2:00pm with Rev. Robert Guderian officiating. Visitation will also be held from 1:00pm until the time of service at the church.
