Douglas Terry Lerch, age 76, of Albany, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Center in Janesville.
He was born to Arvin, "Abe" Sr. and Margaret (Tiedt) Lerch on July 30, 1939 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
When he was 4 years old, he moved to Chicago where he attended elementary school and Lakeview High School.
He returned to the Beaver Dam area where he worked on construction for the Lorenz Construction Co.
He was a member of the 84th Army Reserve in Beaver Dam, WI, where he served for 6 years.
Douglas and Vivian Pernot were united in marriage in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Albany, WI on June 19, 1965.
He started work at GM in Janesville on September 13, 1965 and retired in August 2000.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and former member of Albany Fire Department and Albany EMS.
In his retirement years, he drove school bus for C and L Transportation, Brodhead, Verona Bus Service, Monroe, First Student Bus Service, Monroe and Kobussen Bus Company Albany.
Douglas is survived by his daughter, Rochelle (Dan) Cashman, of Albany, sons, Shawn (Lisa) Lerch, of Raton, NM and Dean Lerch of Albany.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler VanDusen and Natalie Cashman, and his step-grandchildren Lindsay and Seth Cashman, brothers, Arvin (Karen) Lerch, Lakewood, CO, Mickey (Shelby) Gotter of Chicago, IL; sisters, Lois Sharp, Indianapolis, IN, Judy Hamby, Chicago IL, Reinette (Gerry) Schmidt, Addison, IL, and Laura (Al) Grey, DeKalb, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vivian, sister, Linda, and brother, Jeff.
Douglas was a servant of the Lord in any situation that was presented to him.
A visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 410 E. State St. Albany, Wisconsin on Friday, May 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Albany, with Fr. Michael Moon celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery following the service.
