Beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Dorothy (Wittwer) Schuepp, age 87, of Verona, WI died peacefully after a brief illness on July 22, 2017 with family at her side.

Dorothy was born in Mt Horeb, WI; the daughter of Carl and Clara (Slotten) Wittwer and graduated valedictorian of her class from Mt Horeb High School. She met the love of her life, Walter (Wally) Schuepp, in Sunday School at Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed Church in Mt Vernon, WI where they were married on July 30, 1949.

Dorothy and Wally were proprietors in several cheese businesses throughout their 56 years of married life. They lived in Evansville and Monroe, WI where they raised four daughters. Wally preceded her in death in 2005.

Immediately prior to his death Wally asked his best friend, Harlan Dahlk, to "take care of Dorothy". A lifelong friend of Dorothy and Wally, Harlan accepted unequivocally. Long after the deaths of their spouses Dorothy and Harlan kept in touch and cared for each other. In 2010, Dorothy moved to Verona, WI to be closer to Harlan. They were companions until her recent illness.

Devoted in faith and family Dorothy was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Monroe until moving to Verona WI. She then joined St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Verona. Dorothy enjoyed volunteer work at her church.

In addition to being an extraordinary homemaker, Dorothy loved to bake. Her cookies were well-loved by family and friends, especially at holiday time. Dorothy loved to sew; making dresses for her daughters' proms and Christmas dresses for their annual holiday photos. She loved music, especially Big Band swing. She was an accomplished tuba player, pianist and percussionist. Dorothy earned a music scholarship to UW-Madison. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader who also enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She and Wally made several trips to visit family and friends in Switzerland. They hosted many visitors from Switzerland at their home in Monroe. In her later years, Dorothy embraced the role of researching family genealogy which she lovingly shared with family members.

Dorothy is survived by daughters: Kristi (Fred) Gutierrez of Milwaukee, Jeri (Eugene) Pliner of San Francisco, Kathy (Roy) Langley of Charlotte, NC, JoAnn (Andy) Affolter of Madison; her brother, Darrell (Helen) Wittwer of Brookfield, WI; her companion, Harlan Dahlk of Verona: six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and dear friends.
