Dorothy L. Marchant Nolan, 86, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Dorothy was born January 15, 1923, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Vashni and Mina (Emery) Marchant.

Dorothy married Stuart Campbell in 1942 and moved to Monroe in 1948. She earned a degree in Education from U.W. Whitewater in 1961 and traveled in Europe for two years before settling in California. She relocated back to Monroe in April 2000 to be near her family.

She had a great love for animals, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Ann (Randy) Meier, Jim (Debbie) Campbell, all of Monroe, and Gary (Carol) Campbell of Waunakeee, WI; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lorna Sullivan of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard S. Campbell on April 25, 2002; a great-grandson, Andrew Meier in 1996; and a brother, Mason Marchant in 1997.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery, Oakley, followed by a luncheon at the Oakley Union United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Dorothy's name to the Green County Humane Society.
