Dorothy Helen Friedrich, 95, of Monroe, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Aster Assisted Living. She was born on May 15, 1921 to Samuel Meinert and Hazel Schrack in rural Rock City, Illinois. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse near Rock City.
She married Bernard Friedrich on August 10, 1939 in the New Apostolic Church in Monroe. They and the family lived on dairy farms in the Juda and then the Albany/Monticello areas. She was a homemaker and enjoyed family, cooking, gardening, flowers and birds.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Betty Gilbaugh of Loves Park, IL, and five children, including Beverly (Walter) Sinkola of Ocala, FL, Kristine (Richard) Morrissey of Muskego, Reta Martin of Kona, HI, Roger (April) Friedrich of Monroe and Mark Friedrich of Princeton, IL. She also has eleven grandchildren, including David and Danny Sinkola, Dawn (Brett) Eichler, Kelly (Michael) Fisher, Kevin Morrissey, Lisa and Eric Martin, Christopher and Douglas Friedrich, Emily (Tim) Giasson and Mitchell (Jamie) Eley. In addition, she has thirteen great grandchildren, including Andrew (Susan) Visiko, Makenna, Annabel and Braden Fisher, Karyn and Connor Morrissey, Braylee, Landon and Carter Friedrich, Christopher, Breanna and Lindsey Giasson, and Olivia Eley; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kimberly Visiko.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six siblings, including Kenneth, Lois, Alberta, Samuel Jr, Gene, and Donald Meinert, and one grandchild, Rosemary Sinkola.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr. Monroe, with Rev. Ray Schoeller officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow service at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Juda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Monroe Clinic Hospice or Aster Assisted Living.
