Donna Jean Wahl, age 83 of Monticello, WI passed away peacefully on December 25, 2015, ending her battle with cancer. She died in her own home surrounded by her family, a final request made possible by the wonderful care of her children and Monroe Clinic Hospice staff.
Donna was born November 22, 1932 in Wiota, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Inga (Berget) Johnson. She graduated from Argyle High School in 1950. Donna was united in marriage to Myron (Mike) Wahl on June 7, 1950, and together they raised ten children.
In addition to mothering her family, Donna was employed as a cook at Marco's Supper Club and The Casino. She worked for Gempler's Supermarket for over twenty years, retiring in 1997.
Donna was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish. She loved working with her flowers, traveling, doing crafts, and making small woodworking projects. During her senior years, she especially enjoyed her "gambling" trips with her friends. Donna was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Myron in 1990; daughter: Debra in 1957; and sons: Robert in 1974 and David in 1984. She is survived by her children: Marcus (Jane) Wahl of Sun Prairie, WI, Michael (Diane) Wahl, Melody (Gene) Flesher, and Tom (Jan) Wahl all of Monticello, Robin Wahl and Jerry (Janet) Wahl both of Monroe, and Patty (Tim) Nocholson of Pembroke, FL. Her family blessed her with 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Donna is also survived by one brother: Ralph "Sonny" (Helen) Johnson of Wiota; one sister: Juanita (Bernard) Rear of rural Argyle, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (213 N. Lafayette St., Argyle), a branch of St. Isidore Parish with Msgnr. Larry M. Bakke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Argyle, followed by a fellowship luncheon at Dowling Hall in Argyle. A visitation will be held Friday, January 1, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee St., Argyle).
