Donald L. Ingwell, age 76, of Cary, Illinois, formerly of Monroe, passed away at the home of his brother, Bill Kilian, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 3, 1939 in Blanchardville, the son of Martin and Venora (Larson) Ingwell and was a 1957 graduate of Monroe High School. He also graduated from the Madison Electronics School.
He entered the Air Force basics at Scott Air Force Base in Southern, IL; he served in Germany, during peace time where he played football for the European League as a guard.
Donald and Lorraine "Sue" Mahlkuck were married in August of 1963 at Zion United Methodist Church, Juda, WI. After marriage they made their home in Cary, IL. He was employed with Meyer Material Company as a general sales manager for 35 years, retiring in 2005.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and traveling, and spending time in Fort Meyers, Florida.
He is survived by his siblings, Marvin "Ike" (Terri) Ingwell of Monroe, Marion Stafford of Monroe, Norma Conner of Freeport, IL; and William "Bill" (Jill) Kilian of Monroe. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends, neighbors; and his dear friends, from Carey, IL; Mike and Karen Lumpes.
He is predeceased by his wife, sons, Robert and Timothy, brother, Victor Ingwell and sister, Mavis Riese.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Juda.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
