VERONA - Donald "Don" J. Ott, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was born December 1, 1931 in Monroe, the son of Gottfried and Anna (Klassy) Ott. He was united in marriage to Donna V. (Bowman) Ott on November 12, 1955 in New Glarus. He started his career as a farmer in rural New Glarus. Don delivered milk for Bowman Dairy for many years. He ended his working career at Davis Duehr Dean on Regent Street as their well-loved Greeter and Parking Lot Attendant. He thoroughly enjoyed his coworkers and the patients he assisted. Above all else, Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Don's favorite pass time activities included dancing with his wife, bowling, golfing, playing cards, especially cribbage and euchre. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. Don's sense of humor was well known and liked and he was affectionately known as "Ootley."
Donald is survived by his four children, Dwight (Cindy) of Oregon, Diane (Rich) Strohmenger of Oregon, Donovan of Mt. Horeb, and Denise (Jeff) Leuzinger of Mt. Horeb; six grandchildren, Derek and Brandon (Stephanie) Ott, Haley Strohmenger, Erin and Jessica Ott, and Cara Leuzinger; one great-granddaughter, Vannesa; brother, Delbert (Gilma) Ott; sisters-in-law, Zoa Ott, Madeline Bowman, Deeann (Dean) Signer; brother-in-law, Willis Kolden; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Donna; his parents; brothers, Eldon, Hervey and infant brother Delmar.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at SALEM UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 501 Mark Street, Verona with Rev. Dr. Mark Yurs officiating. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona and again from 10am until the time of service on Monday at the church.
