Don A. "Newt" Neuenschwander

Don A. "Newt" Neuenschwander, age 77 of Monroe, died on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the V.A. Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 14, 1935 in Albany, the son of Ernest and Bertha (Rubi) Neuenschwander.

Don entered the United States Army reserve in 1964 with the 1158th Transport Company and was called up during the Berlin Crisis being stationed in Germany with the 128th Infantry 32nd Division. He was awarded the Berlin Crisis Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Write Medal and Emergency Service Ribbon. He was a member of the American Legion Zilmer Riley Post #84. Don was a man with many talents, working for Dutch Walters Carpenters, drove over the road for Spike French and Fritz Treuthardt Trucking Companies and worked in Madison for various construction companies.

Don is survived by his brother, Clifford Neuenschwander of Waupun, also several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Darlene Isely, and Barbara Tuescher; brother, Russell Neuenschwander and a brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Rev. David Busker officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

Don will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
