David J. Brinkmeier
David J. Brinkmeier, age 78, of Monroe, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home. He was born April 11, 1930 in Freeport, Illinois the son of John and Emma (Leininger) Brinkmeier. David and Marjorie Wahler were married on June 16, 1951 in Belleville, Illinois. David graduated from Freeport High School in 1948, attended Northern Illinois Teachers College, Northern Illinois University, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin College of Pharmacy in 1957. David served in the U.S. Air Force from December 1950 to September 1954, attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was stationed at Niigata Air Force Base in Japan for 1 and a half years. He was employed at Emmert Drug in Freeport, then moved to Monroe and was employed at Blumer Pharmacy. He was co-owner of the Prescription Center Pharmacy at the Medical Center from 1968 to 1993, and was also co-owner of West Side Pharmacy until retiring in January of 1993.

David was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, was on the Green County Board of Supervisors for 8 years, was chairman of the Republican Party, member of Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association, American Pharmaceutical Association, 33rd degree Mason, and Cecil Jones VFW Post #2312. David enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, history, dancing, and working in the yard. He also had a special connection and love for his pets, particularly his late German Shephard, "Sabrina".

David is survived by 3 daughters, Susan (William) LaPat and their children, Jeffrey and Eric of Concord, CA; Leslie (Darrell) Tilleskjor and their children, Anthony and Sara of Maple Grove, MN; Allison (John) Korus and their son, Frankie of Farmington, MN; son, John (Raylene) Brinkmeier and their children, Ashley and Tierra of New Glarus, WI. The family also wants to remember and thank other loving family member and caregivers, Royal and Betty Karlen, Wanita Day, and the staff at Monroe Manor and Monroe Clinic Hospice. David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie; parents, John and Emma Brinkmeier; sister, Marjorie Bruesch; and brothers, Ward, Robert, and Alan Brinkmeier.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. William T. Mike Heath. Family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Green County Humane Society.
