David E. Griffin, age 76 of Monroe, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Dave was born on March 30, 1939 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Charles and Capitola (Mitchell) Griffin. He was a 1957 graduate of Angola High School in Angola, IN and served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1959. Dave married Marsha Sams on April 30, 1960 in Angola. Dave was employed as a Supervisor with Moore Business Forms from 1960 until retiring in 2001. The family has resided in Monroe since 1967. He was a devoted scoutmaster with Troop 115 in Monroe from 1969 until 1983 and was an avid fisherman especially enjoying trips to Hayward, Minocqua, and Lake Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marsha Griffin of Monroe; a son, Greg (Joanna) Griffin of Monroe; a daughter, Robin (Jason) Schuetz of Darlington; five grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Griffin, Justin (Jessica) Griffin, Eryn (Justin) DeVoe, Alyssa (Chase) Rau, and Joshua Schuetz; two great grandchildren, Lukas and Lexi Rau; a brother, Marvin (Betty) Griffin of Niles, MI; two sisters, Barbara Griffin of Monroe, and Sharron (Richard) Broyles of Tampa, FL; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Griffin of Virginia Beach, VA, and Glenda (John) Faurote of Fort Wayne, IN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard.

A visitation for David Griffin will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Pastor Randy Booth of the Monroe United Methodist Church will officiate. Memorials are suggested in David's name to Canyon Camp, Apple River, IL.
