Daniel R. Bechtolt, age 80, of rural Monroe, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on January 19, 1934 in Monroe, the son of Earl and Frieda (Wenger) Bechtolt. Daniel was a 1951 graduate of Monroe High School.
Daniel and Doris Gransee were married on August 4, 1956 in Brodhead.
Daniel farmed in the Jordan Township area and later worked for Zweifel Construction. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by Doris Bechtolt of Monroe, children: Scott (Penny) Bechtolt of Monroe, Ervin Bechtolt of Freeport, IL; Don Bechtolt of Monroe, Robert (Alice) Bechtolt of South Wayne, J.D. Bechtolt of Monroe, Carol Knox of Monroe, Lynn (James) Rackow of Juda, Mark Bechtolt of Browntown; sister, Joyce Dunlavey of Freeport, IL; brothers, Paul (Wanda) Bechtolt of Monroe, David Bechtolt of Madison; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, and grandson, Jason John.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Krause officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, September 29th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
