Felonies

n James R. Haas, 23, Browntown, remains free on a $7,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance Thursday for drug charges.

Court records allege he had 28 Vicodin tablets in a plastic bag, 15 grams of marijuana, an illegally obtained prescription drug, and smoking pipes, crack pipes and two snorting straws in his possession when arrested Oct. 20 in Brodhead. He was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2007, and convicted of delivering marijuana in 2005.

He is charged with possession with intent to deliver, a class H felony; possession of marijuana, a class I felony; possession of an illegally obtained prescription drug, an unclassified misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor.

He faces up more than 24 years in prison and up to $31,000 in fines, if convicted.

His preliminary hearing is Dec. 7.

n Jessica L. Gray, 19, Brodhead, remains free after making her initial appearance Thursday for drug charges.

Court records allege she had 28 Vicodin tablets in a plastic bag, 15 grams of marijuana, and smoking pipes, crack pipes and two snorting straws in her possession when arrested Oct. 20 in Brodhead.

She is charged with possession with intent to deliver, a class H felony; possession of marijuana, an unclassified misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor. She faces more than six years in prison and up to $11,000 in fines, if convicted.

Her preliminary hearing is Dec. 7.

n The court Oct. 19 sentenced Jason M. Dunlap, 26, Monroe, to 15 moths in prison, with 57 days credit, after he pleaded no contest to failure to pay child support.

He faced more than three years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class I felony.

Court records indicate he failed to pay child support from February 2007 to December 2007.

In a second case, the court sentenced Dunlap to nine months in prison, to run concurrently with the previous case, after he pleaded no contest to bail jumping.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed one count of possession of marijuana, a class I felony, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor. He originally faced more than four years in prison and more than $200,000 in fines.

Court records indicate he drove without a license while on bond for driving after revocation Dec. 27, 2007 in Monroe.

In a third case, Dunlap was sentenced nine months in prison, to run concurrently with the first case, after he pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana.

He faced more than two years in prison and up to $1,000 in fines for the unclassified misdemeanor.

Court records indicate he had marijuana in his possession when arrested Nov. 4, 2006 in Monroe.

In a fourth case, Dunlap was sentenced to nine months in prison, to run concurrently with the first case, after he pleaded no contest to issuing a worthless check.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed one count of issuing a worthless check and two counts of bail jumping, all class A misdemeanors. He originally faced up to 27 months in jail and up to $40,000 in fines.

Court records indicate he wrote a check for about $745, which he didn't intend to pay, Feb. 8, 2007 at a Monroe business.

n The court Oct. 19 entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a Dec. 7 district attorney conference for Nichole S. Abaunza, 25, Monroe, who stood mute to attempting to elude an officer and obstructing an officer.

Court records allege she increased her vehicle speed and drove around stop sticks when signaled to pull over Oct. 4 in Washington and Monroe townships. She also gave officers a false information when she was taken into custody.

She is charged with attempted to flee or elude an officer, a class I felony, and obstructing an officer, a class A misdemeanor. She faces more than four years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines, if convicted.

She remains free on a $3,000 signature bond.

Misdemeanors

n The court Oct. 19 sentenced Shawn M. Hopkins, 20, Rockford, to one year probation and 60 days in jail, with 27 days credit, after he pleaded no contest to theft and concealing stolen property.

He faced up to 18 months in jail and up to $20,000 in fines for the class A misdemeanors.

The court dismissed one count of receiving stolen property and one count of resisting/obstructing an officer, both class A misdemeanors. He originally faced up to 27 months in jail and up to $40,000 in fines.

Court records indicate he had an iPod in his possession and he entered a vehicle and went through the owner's things Sept. 22 in Monroe.
