GREEN COUNTY
MISDEMEANORS
Jon Edward Payne, 48, Brodhead, was charged Thursday with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a 2013 incident when paraphernalia was found in the basement of his business, Payne's Pub, in Brodhead. On Sept. 3, 2013, police conducted a search of Payne's Pub on the basis of several reports that Payne would give or sell cocaine to patrons. In the pub's basement office, several baggies were found with white powdery residue, which was eventually positively identified as cocaine. Payne will appear in court for an initial appearance on Sept. 26.
David Stanley Szyszka, 47, Franklin, was charged Thursday with two counts of misdemeanor theft. The charges stem from a pair of incidents in August when he intentionally misrepresented the value of items he sold. In both incidents, which took place on Aug. 2 and Aug. 24, he sold a wired camera system valued at about $200, which he claimed was actually a wireless camera system worth more than $2,000. Both systems he sold for $1,400. Szyszka has a pre-trial conference scheduled for Oct. 25.
