Justin William Hartwig, 27, Belleville, pleaded no contest May 8 to a charge of disorderly conduct and was fined $267.50. Dismissed were felony and misdemeanor charges of strangulation, battery, intimidation of a victim and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a dispute Oct. 23 on Doyle Road in Exeter Township. Court records indicate Hartwig punched, bit, strangled and pushed a woman after telling their 2-year-old daughter "to go around the corner and stay there because he was going to hurt mommy." Police reported finding Hartwig with 3 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and a water bong.
Christopher Joseph Martinez, 31, Monroe, pleaded no contest May 8 to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and battery and was sentenced to three years of probation with the conditions that he undergo all recommended treatment and counseling, complete domestic violence counseling, maintain employment, have only agent-approved contact with the victim and not drink. A felony charge of strangulation was dismissed. He was also convicted of revoking his probation on other convictions and sentenced to nine months in jail, with Huber work-release. The most recent conviction stems from an incident Feb. 8 in the 2100 block of 16th Street in Monroe. Court records indicate he yelled and swore at a woman, shoved her up against a wall and strangled her by shoving his forearm into her throat. He owes the court $1,380.

Lucas Charles Patterson, 28, Monroe, pleaded no contest May 7 to a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution. As part of his plea deal, misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer and bail jumping were dismissed. Patterson is ordered to continue alcohol/drug counseling, complete anger management and behavior counseling and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. Court records indicate on Oct. 10 at a residence in the 200 block of West 23rd Street in Monroe, he yelled at a woman, called her foul names and threw a cellphone at her face, causing her a bruised and bleeding lip, then lied to an officer about the incident. His blood-alcohol level at the time was reported at 0.23 percent. About two weeks later, court records indicate he jumped bail by drinking alcohol.

William Robert Pollock, 21, Belleville, pleaded guilty May 8 to four Class A misdemeanor counts of writing worthless checks and was sentenced to four years of probation. Conditions of his probation include payment of restitution, an alcohol/drug evaluation, completing all recommended counseling and not drinking or going into bars or liquor stores. He must also notify his probation agent of the names and contact information of any girlfriend(s) and not live with any girlfriends or roommates (except family) without the agent's approval.
Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez, 22, Darlington, was charged April 22 with a Class I felony count of interfering with child custody on April 1 by taking a 14-year-old Darlington girl out-of-state without her parents' permission. Police found her with him at a trailer park in Liberal, Kansas. A warrant is issued for his arrest.

Court records indicate she hit a woman two times in the face with an open hand July 28 outdoors on Main Street in Darlington. She owes the court $243.
Lezlie A. Blum, 46, Shullsburg, was charged April 19 with a Class B misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from a domestic dispute April 13 at her home in the 300 block of West Wood Street. Blum has pleaded not guilty. Her next court date is June 19.
Brandon Dwayne Dallman, 20, Watertown, was charged April 30 with possessing a multi-colored wooden dugout used to inhale a controlled substance, stemming from a traffic stop March 29 in Gratiot Township. A warrant is issued for his arrest.
Madalynn L. Luedtke, 17, Cuba City, was charged May 2 with a Class B misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from a domestic dispute March 31 at her home in the 300 block of South Splinter Street. Her initial appearance is May 13.
Dustin J. Fairbanks, 23, Jefferson, was sentenced May 8 to seven months in jail, minus 51 days sentence credit, for revoking his probation on two Class A misdemeanor convictions of criminal damage to property. The original convictions are for drunkenly vandalizing World of Variety and Craig True Value Hardware in Darlington while off-duty from his work as a carnie last summer at the county fair. Court records indicate he revoked his probation this spring by drinking, consuming marijuana, punching a man and possessing a digital scale and bag of marijuana at the Hilltop Motel in Jefferson. Police had been called to the motel for a fight in progress. Fairbanks is also ordered to pay restitution to World of Variety ($1,000) and to a Darlington resident ($574.83).
