Felonies


- Daniel Glenn Benkert, 26, Albany, pleaded no contest Thursday, March 7, to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from an incident Dec. 8. A felony charge of strangulation and misdemeanor charges of sending threatening messages and unlawful phone use were dismissed as part of his plea agreement. He was granted a one-year deferred prosecution and ordered to pay the court $579. Court records indicate Benkert sent lewd, intimidating messages to a woman and threatened over the phone to beat her up. He also reportedly pushed and shoved her at a residence on 2nd Street in Albany, repeatedly banged her head on the floor and attempted to strangle her. Officers at the scene reported finding Benkert with a metal Beatles lunchbox containing two glass pot pipes, an ashtray with seeds, a metal grinder and three "homemade smoking devices."

- Nicholas W. Johnson, 19, Juda, was charged Wednesday, March 6, with a Class F felony count of burglary and Class A misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal damage to property, stemming from an incident Nov. 22 in the Town of Jefferson. Court records indicate Johnson broke into Olin's Juda Oasis, W2616 Wis. 11, causing $216 in damages to a window, and stole $678 in cigarettes. His initial appearance in court is March 25.

- Rickey Lee Coggins, 39, Brodhead, was charged Wednesday, March 6, with felony bail jumping and a Class A misdemeanor charge of retail theft, stemming from an incident Dec. 31. Court records indicate he shoplifted a box of garbage bags, two bottles of black pepper, two bottles of nail polish remover, a Coca Cola Glass and a large box of Cascade detergent from Dollar General, 2410 1st Center Ave., Brodhead, and in doing so, violated a $4,000 bond on a previous charge. His initial appearance in court is March 25.



Misdemeanors

- Kyle Bruce Disch, 28, Albany, was charged Wednesday, March 6, with an unclassified misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia and two Class A misdemeanor counts of receiving or concealing stolen property. Court records indicate that in March 2012, Disch kept a stolen sweatshirt, GPS and cellphone charger in a vehicle. He also allegedly hid in his apartment several items stolen from a hog-confinement house on County X in the Town of Albany, including a Nasco microscope and other hog-insemination utensils, an electronics receiver and dog-tracking collars. His initial appearance in court is March 25.

- William Docherty, 31, Monroe, was charged Thursday, March 7, with three counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, stemming from an arrest the previous day. Court records indicate Docherty was arrested on a fourth-offense charge of driving while intoxicated on West Main Street at Mill Street in Albany on Wednesday, March 6, in violation of bond conditions on previous charges. His signature bond was set Friday, March 8, at $1,500. His next court date is April 16. He is convicted in Wisconsin of intoxicated driving in March 2000 (second offense) and in August 2006 (third offense), according to court records.

- Kelly Ott, 31, Albany, pleaded no contest Thursday, March 7, to a charge of harassment and was fined $267.50. The charge was downgraded from a misdemeanor count of knowingly violating a domestic abuse order. It stems from an incident in August 2010.

Misdemeanors


- Theodore Anthony Bauer III, 35, South Wayne, was sentenced Wednesday, March 6, to 195 days in jail for revoking his probation in January on convictions of disorderly conduct and endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon. He was granted Huber release privileges for work and counseling. He owes the court $243.
